History: England’s Wiki
Personality: These days, England is seen as the typical British man, stiff upper-lipped, proud, intolerant of nonsense, and a stick in the mud.
And while these are all for the most part very true of him, it is mostly just a front that England puts up because as he grew up as an Island Nation it has been difficult for him to express himself properly. That being said, when it comes to nation meetings he is very business-like and tends to leave tact at home as he has no problem telling others when their ideas are poorly thought through or just stupid. This doesn’t mean he’s deliberately callous or mean, he just doesn’t see the sense in beating around the bush on certain matters.
When he was a younger nation, he had to deal with Rome, Denmark, and France harassing him in their own ways, and as he was a stubborn child their interferences only served to cause him to be more stubborn and defiant of those who wanted to control him.
This led him to becoming a strong force on the battle field, both on land and at sea. He could never stand for being seen as weak so he set about proving how strong he was. As he grew he soon had a tight control of the seas and spent a great amount of time employing piratical methods against those who opposed him (Mostly Spain) around this time. While his fierceness was no longer in question, people soon started to realise that he was more than capable of being petty towards others such as taking a different side of a war just so he could fight with someone who was presently annoying him at the time (Usually France and Spain).
Also during this time, England and the others soon started making colonies everywhere taking other smaller nations under their wing, America being one of them. England was always very strict and commanding over America, wanting him to grow up strong and proud like him, however this smothering attitude caused America to rebel against him, while the experience has caused England to ease up on who he treated colonies like the ANZAC brothers. He still feels like America was his greatest achievement because, while it wasn’t in the fashion that England would have liked, America did become a proud and strong nation that is a force to be reckoned with. Mostly.
England is also a romantic at heart in many senses. He loves romantic stories and the romanticism of times gone by, all stemming from him being full of wonder as a child and growing up around magical creatures as well as magic itself. He is very proficient at the art, although he doesn’t practice so much any more due to others ridiculing him. Because of this, and his natural 'only-child' life as an island has lead him to be rather secretive and generally rather private. Causing him to do on his own or just keep everyone out of the loop due to equal parts of having not gotten used to sharing with others as well as a deep-seeded fear of being ridiculed for that things that he has or knows.
England also has terrible luck with things from romances (Due to alliances being very tricky things and his naturally mistrusting nature), to generally not being in the best place at the best time. Which tends to end up re-enforcing his distant nature with others. This also links into his sense of humour. Because when you get down to it England has a very creative take on humour, using subtle and tone to convey the joke than over the top gestures or explanations. Unfortunately his particular brand of humour isn't always understood or appreciated by others, once again bringing him back to step one usually in a defensive manner.
Abilities/Weaknesses: Abilities:
Military know-how: England, while not being a country born in war, is definitely a man who has seen more war than most, easily being a part of at least 80% of the planets war time history. He knows how to direct men, and has a keen eye for strategic weak points in opposing military schemes. He has also had control of most of the world’s oceans for the longest amount of time, due to his being an Island marine war fair his is strongest suit when it comes to war.
Magical: England is one of the few nations that not only still believe in magic, but is believed to still use it. He has the ability to see magical creatures due to this and is often found to look like he is talking to himself when he interacts with them. While he used to talk about it a great deal when he was very young. Nowadays he tends to never make mention of it, even scoffing at the idea to dissuade people from giving him trouble over it.
Politically minded: England has always been aware how politics can affect a nation, it’s people and nations around it, he has always been eager to keep his mind in the current climates. He and his bosses have learnt how to try and make the system work for them. While this doesn’t always work out, it tends to work to their favour more often than not. (An example would be his constant refusal to join the Europe Union or use the Euro. Which is part of why his is economically better of that some of the others right now.)
Weaknesses:
Alcoholic/Drunk: While it doesn’t plague his day to day life, when he finds himself drinking he tends to plague others. Despite being a heavy drinker in the past, these days he is very quick to get drunk off of very little and will get rowdy, loud and uncouth while doing so generally. However there are times when he tends to be more of a sad and crying drunk, usually around the 4th of July.
Temperamental: While he prides himself of his stiff upper lip British stoicism, when his temper does flare, it’s hard to miss. He becomes highly argumentative and often violent. While nowadays it is very rarely seen, there are those who tend to be able to set him off easier than others (America being one of them on occasion)
Stubborn: There are few people who are more stubborn and strong-willed as England (America comes close, but who do you think he got it from?). It takes a great deal of coercion to get him to do something he flatly refuses to do, and there are very few nations these days willing to even try to do it. There are those he is more willing to listen to than others (Of late he’s been siding with America more and more on things). On the whole, if England has made his mind up on something, very little will change his mind on it. As such, he also tends to hold grudges for an impossibly long time, which sometimes tends to show when making deals with other nations.

England sat in his hotel room, a frown on his lips and his eyebrows knit together. His mind still replaying the latest argument between America and himself. Which had then led to him arguing with everyone else.
As usual he reflects on half the things he's said and realised that he hadn't entirely meant it. In the strictest sense. Just another moment of his pride and stubbornness causing him to speak his mind than take a diplomatic front, At least he can only take solace in the fact that his argumentativeness was the catalyst not that cause of this world meetings inevitable melt-down into insults and references to past grievances, he had even made an effort to try and dam the arguments before they reached their peak.
Shaking his head he stands and puts the kettle on the boil, tea will help. It always does. He brings out two cups, knowing that France will no doubt arrive soon initially to antagonise, then he will just settle down for a warm cuppa, and chat, which will move on to what ever red wine he's brought along, England will complain that it wasn't white as always, and then what happens after that... Well, he'll deny it anyway.
After all, they've all been around long enough to realise that these meetings are mostly for show, that their bosses merely let them have these meetings while they hold their own. He shakes his head a little with a small smile, thinking that America who rebuked all of his traditionalism. Is still caught up in the traditionalism of the world meetings. He wonders if he should mention it to him sometime just to watch him get annoyed and tell him that he's doing nothing of the sort. And for a while, it will be very amusing, until he starts accusing him of being too old fashioned.
Just as the kettle finishes it's boil there's a knock on the thin hotel door.
"Clockwork."
He mutters to himself before calling out that it's not locked, the wine bottle making appearance before the nation. It's white this time. England blinks at it. He must have sounded more upset than usual, if France is bringing a bottle of white.
